Create the exploration

After successfully creating the application, you must specify several other attributes by creating an exploration.

1. Click Data and Explorations in the navigation pane.

   You must specify how messages from the device model are to be handled.

2. On the Data and Explorations page, click the Explorations tab.

3. Under Exploration Sources, click Add.

4. Complete the following fields:

   Field	Value
   Name	Enter Messages from HVAC Device.
   Message Format	Select HVAC device model from the drop-down menu.
   Device Metadata	Enter service_prodid.

5. Enter or select other optional device metadata:

   • ID
   • Description
   • Type
   • Name
   • Manufacturer
   • Model Number
   • Serial Number
   • Classification
   • Device Status
   • State
   • Location
   • Latitude
   • Longitude
   The order does not matter.

6. Click Confirm.

7. Under Explorations, click Add.

8. Complete the following fields:

   Field	Value
   Exploration Type	Select Exploration from the drop-down menu, which is the default.
   Exploration Name	Enter a name, such as Temperature above 25 °C.
   Exploration Source	Select Messages from HVAC Device from the drop-down menu, the exploration source that you just created.

9. Click Confirm.

   The exploration is created.
