Guidelines for filtering and eliminating duplicates
Filters are useful for removing unwanted messages.
It is strongly recommended that you adhere to the following guidelines:
-
Range—The range indicates the time period over which the data is to be evaluated. For the first exploration, the range should be set to as high a value as your business requirements allow.
-
Evaluation frequency—Indicates how often the data is evaluated. Just as with range, the evaluation frequency should be set to as high a value as your business requirements allow. The evaluation frequency is typically set to the same value as the range. A lower value indicates that messages are published more frequently, which could potentially overload the system. For example, if it is acceptable to your business that the device fault can be communicated to Oracle Service Cloud up to 24 hours later, then both the range and evaluation frequency can be set to 24 hours.
-
Window—The window for an Eliminate Duplicates exploration type indicates the time-period over which the data is considered for detecting duplicates. The deduplication window in the second exploration should be as close to the evaluation frequency as possible, but slightly less. For example, if the evaluation frequency is set to 24 hours, set the deduplication window to be 23 hours and 55 minutes.
