Image placement
The first step is to print out the placement image that is included as part of the accelerator content. The image file is a stand- alone file in the accelerator content and is also included as an asset in the XCode project. This image is what the app looks for in order to place the virtual pump on a space.
The application looks at the size of the image that is printed and bases the scale of the pump (in the AR experience) on the size of the image. The larger the printed image is on paper, the larger the pump will appear in the AR experience.
ARKit supports images placed at any angle. However, in the accelerator, the placement image is expected to be put on a horizontal plane (like a tabletop) with the Oracle text facing the camera. The accelerator is configured so that the digital twin will appear at the top border of the square. Once placed, you can walk around the image to view the digital twin from different perspectives.
