I started from
http://code.google.com/p/gwt-glassfish/ and made some modification to use with glassfish 3.1.1.
I have the same error using glassfish 3.2-b06
Please find attached the two eclipse projects and launch configuration to be able to reproduce.
The used eclipse has GWT plugin installed.
