You haven't attached the server log. Anyways here is what I conclude
based on the information
provided.

a). Multiple attempts of uninstall did not clean up the system properly
resulting in follow-up install
failures. This could be because of running processes occupying the port,
directory locations of
appserver install etc.,

b). For the same reasons as above, the upgrade also didn't succeed.

Possible solutions could be.

a). If you would like to retain the same install directory(may be you
have references to this location elsewhere),
then, please make sure that you delete the install directory and its
contents. Remove <SystemRoot>\system32\productregistry,
then try the installation again.

b). If you do not care about the install location, then install a fresh
copy of update 2 on a different directory.
