Glassfish Beta can't launch admin console

Glassfish hates me. It's personal this time, I can feel it. You'd think all those good times in the past would have some weight. I guess not.

I've been trying to upgrade my PC and Mac to GF v2, there's a show stopper bug in v1 that's fixed in v2.

But, yesterday I was trying to get GFv2b41 (the beta) to load on my PC. Install is painless (being that GF is painless to install), start up the server, starts up clean, and then localhost:4848 for the admin console and *bonk*: nothing.

Well, not nothing, but something. That something is that I get redirected to: http://localhost:4848/asadmin/admingui/TopFrameset, and then I get a 404 error. Joy.

So, SOMETHING is there, something enough to pull off the redirect.

The day runs out, I run home crying, devastated. But a new day dawns and I'm trying the same thing on my Mac (it's Mac day).

Download GFv2b41d, again the beta, again the painless install, and, again, the disappointment.

I then tried build 51, what the heck, third times a charm, kick 'em when they're down, that's my motto.

Same result. 404.

I tried deleting the asadminpass file in my home directory, thinking maybe it was an upgrade issue (I have v1 here too, of course). Then I resinstalled b41, and it handily recreate the adminpass files. (Yes, I'm installing it in a seperate directory than my v1.)

But, alas, nothing. I get redirect to the TopFrameset, and 404, but no console.

I...I am baffled why this is happening. It's on two different OS's, different version of JDK 5, different machines. Heck I'm even at two completely different geographic locations, 50 miles apart (so none of that "It's that lodestone deposit underneath the building" stuff this time). The only common denominator is the GF release and me. Could that plate in my head be affecting something? Have I offended GF some how? A patch in the code "if $user == whartung { bad things;}"? HA HA, it's all funny until someone loses an eye.

Anyway, words of encouragment, or even better, technical guides as to what could be going on are appreciated.
