I implemented this in PF ~7-8 months ago and suggested to implement a
similar feature directly in the API.
BalusC and Leonardo were working on this feature and AFAIK succesfully
implemented it.

I designed the API about a half year ago and redesigned it completly with
Leo the last month.
The API is actualy ready and it's already implemented in the MyFaces 2.3
branch.
Currently its missing some JavaDocs and a Mojarra implementation.
I think i'm able to provide it till end of the year as PR - with complete
JavaDoc and implementation.
I still need some advices how to commit/provide it to the Specs and Mojarra
as i'm wheter a EG member, nor an Mojarra commiter.
So it would be great if you could assist me here somehow.
It would be a shame if it woudln't be available in JSF 2.3 as it's almost
ready and tested since years in PF (also BootsFaces and currently in
MyFaces 2.3).
It would be great if i could be EG member for 2.4 - there are some things
which can be directly improved in the API instead doing everything in
PF/PFE.
