Thanks redhat19. I'm a little scared to do that -- I'm worried that if the
software gets installed as root, all the installed files and directories will
be owned by root user, and that simply changing the glassfish directory using
chmod may not touch all the related files and directories need by a glassfish
user during normal use. Then, glassfish user will need to have root
permission to run glassfish thereafter, which is a problem for a production
server. 

Have you experience that this scheme works in practice? If so, I'll jump
onboard. Could you tell me the exact directories and files that I need to
chmod after root installs it? And at what point in the installation would I
want to issue the chmod to change permissions?
