Are you using the built-in Java Web Start support for Java EE app clients, or
have you written your own client JNLP?
The built-in support provides all JARs the client and the app client
container will need. That includes the correct default set-up for the
ORB settings which are used during name look-ups. IF you are not using the
built-in support, then that could be why your launch outside Java Web Start
works because Eclipse might be adding gf-client.jar to the class path.
