1. What version of GlassFish are you using?
2. Please try running the same client using the appclient command. If it
hangs also then it'll be a little easier to track it down.
To do this, from the remote client run this command (you'll need,
temporarily, a full GlassFish installation on the remote client system):
asadmin get-client-stubs --appname yourAppName localdir
Then try to launch the client using
appclient -jar localdir/yourAppNameClient.jar
