OK, I decided to start from scratch this time, with the smallest possible example, the ear of which should be attached.
Steps (using NetBeans 6.9M1) :-
1. Create new enterprise application (TestServer).
2. Create new application client (TestApp) tht has only got empty main class, which is part of TestServer.
3. Build.
4. Deploy (by using the Admin console of GF v3 with "Packaged File to Be Uploaded to the Server").
5. Point browser to
http://localhost:8080/TestServer/TestApp
6. Fails to start with same kind of error.
Can't be any simpler than that.
