For you, the workaround might help even if it is a bit complicated, for me it is consoling _because_ it is complicated.
The last few weeks I have been retrofitting Weld into a ZK environment with the slight complication that the ZK app runs as a portlet. I envied the JSF 2 camp for its clean integration (without having tried, though)
The complicated things we are forced to do to simplify injection...
