Re: Glassfish random ports

Hi again.

I've been the whole day trying to figure out where are these listeners being launched from, and how to configure them...this is useless, i can only find out they are ASServerSocket threads listening for RMI connections.

What seems even stranger that no one (i've tried IRC and forums) has noticed this...i mean, who lets a socket listening when you don't what is it for???

The only clue i have found is from Sun App Serv 9.0:
The installation program will detect used ports and assign two others for you: Sun JavaTM System Message Queue (by default, 7676), and IIOP (by default, 3700 for IIOP and 3820 and 3890 for IIOP/SSL). If these default port numbers are in use, the installation program will assign a random port number from the dynamic port range (note that this may not be the next available port number).

What is dynamic port range? Can i override this?

Help would be REALLY appreciated.

Regards.
