what i meant was that derby database can be used as a standalone database server without an application server; so what is the benefit of attaching Derby with an App server?

provided a CLI command to start the network server, this is more of an
Ease of Use feature for running the samples that are available to
demonstrate the technologies supported by the AppServer.
The scripts for starting the NetworkServer are also provided if people
prefer that mechanism as well.

Hi,
Was the benefit of attaching Apache Derby with an Application server
