Nesting Application Modules

You can add application module instances to the data model of another application module using either the modeler or the Application Module Editor. This enables you to reuse the service methods and view object instances in the "nested" application module from any client accessing, or any service method inside, the "containing" application module.

To add nested instances of an application module to the definition of a containing application module using the Application Module Editor:

  1. In the System or Application Navigator, right-click your application module and choose E dit.
  2. Select the Data Model node. If you need further assistance, click H elp.

To add application module instances to the data model using a Business Components diagram:

  1. Select the application module on the diagram in which you want to create the application module instance.
  2. Choose Model | View As | Expanded.
  3. Click the Application Module Instance Application Module Instance icon  icon on the Business Components Component Palette for the diagram then click in the expanded application module on the diagram. For more information, see Creating Internal Nodes on a Diagram Element.

    OR

Drag an application module from the navigator, or elsewhere on the diagram, and drop it on the expanded application module to create an application module instance.
