I suppose given that API was offering a high level support for it since
1.0 (?) it is better to have, at the API level, the code which functions
as far as propagating these custom phrases properly.
Perhaps, post 2.1 versions would rather throw the exception when the
attempt to do it is done...Or if 2.1 deprecates the related code then
I'd nor mind to be honest...
