As said I'm okay with either of the options, but that said I do wonder
whether a channel where potentially a lot of other people are discussing a
random amount of other things is the most ideal way to have a scheduled EG
chat.

At least, I think the ##jsf channel can not be set to read-only for non-EG
members for the duration of the EG chat, can it?
