PS For those just looking for the answer, "action" is the default event for h:commandButton and h:commandLink, "valueChange" is the default event for h:inputText, h:inputSecret, h:inputTextarea, and all the radio/checkbox/menu entries. The rest have no default event. But I still can't find where in the spec or JavaDocs it says this.
