Are you logging in to the console from localhost or remotely ?
If you login remotely, you need to enable secure administration first. If
you are using GlassFish 3.1.1, the error may not be clear and will say
authentication failed. If you use GlassFish 3.1.2, it will tell you that
secure admin is required.
To enable secure administration, you will do
%asadmin enable-secure-admin
and then restart the server.
If you are logging in with localhost:4848, then maybe you can attach
glassfish/domains/domain1/logs/server.log so we can take a look to see if
we can spot any problem.
