As an update I can mention that I just downloaded and tested the latest
version of Oracle AS with the same results.
Since the latest Oracle AS builds on Glassfish 3.1.1 it seems that there is
the same performance issue with the entire Glassfish distríbution.
Or to be more precise it has to be something with Grizzly as to my
understanding quite a few things have happened under the hood related to the
web container.
