Hi Bart, I ran into a similar issue and found your post with no answer.
Later on I was able to find a fix and thought I should share in case you
still have this problem:
Add the following line to your logging.properties:
com.sun.enterprise.server.logging.GFFileHandler.level=ALL
I was hinted by

- quite a regression!
