Do you have the domain.xml open with Wordpad or some other program while
trying to make the change?

Normally we see this problem with Windows Vista or Windows 7 with UAC
enabled, but the user is not running as admin. But this shouldn't be
happening
with Windows XP and an admin user. It is fine to have multiple versions
of GlassFish installed on the same system; that's expected.
