I think there is still work that needs to be done to have app/module
scoped resources work in apps that use JPA.

You may want to keep an eye on
https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=13151.

Once there is an end-to-end story with JSF, JPA and app scoped resources
available, I will be publishing a blog entry with the details.
