Thanks for using the console and reporting the issue you are seeing. I have investigated what you reported and see what you are experiencing.
For issue#1, where the list of default properties not showing up, i have filed a high priority issue on it and should be fixed in the next promoted build.

In the latest nightly build, although the default properties do not show up, you can still use the GUI to add any properties yourself in step 2. So, this maybe a workaround for the time being.
Issue#2, I am not seeing that in the latest nightly build, so it should have been fixed. I can create the JDBC resource without getting any error.
As the GUI is changing the underlying architecture, there are many issues we need to iron out before we get to the quality we use to have. Thanks for your patience and please continue to report any issues you are seeing. We will get to that, one by one :)
