I agree entirely with this. It is a problem that when start the Glassfish V3.1 admin console, it goes off to the update center for updates. On a thin internet pipe as I sometimes have, this can take up to 5 minutes before the checking of updates has completed, and the admin console becomes available for use.
Is it not possible to do the updates at a later stage (or at least in the background) ?
