Can you let us know what version of Java are running on the client system when this happens?
Also, which specific release of GlassFish are you using?
I believe there were problems with Java Web Start itself in some Java SE releases although I don't have the specifics in front of me. I also thought there was a GlassFish issue related to this but I cannot find it now.
Can you attach your application to this topic? Or, if not, can you at least list out the contents of your EAR or JAR? (It'll be a JAR if you are deploying the app client by itself as opposed to as part of an EAR.)
