RE: RE: The context root [...] in application [...] is already in use by another application on this instance [server]

No, this is an EAR combining WAR and EJB-JAR.

The context root must not get modified due to external dependencies. :-(

Yes we are using lookups but the same EAR works well in lots of other
installations, so this shouldn't be the cause.

Do you know *where* the information is stored in the server after the
uninstallation? I mean, if that gets removed, it should work again.
Shouldn't it?

Thanks

Markus

Hi,

I have had issues like this before. The only way I got around this
was created a whole new application and then copied the files from
the old application into it. Is this just a war application? How about
changing the sun-web.xml context Root. I'm sure there's some place
where you can change the context Root of the application. How
about the domain.xml? Check the domain.xml. The server is holding
details of the old application somewhere even though you've uninstall
it. Also, are you using lookups to access data in the app client/web
clients?
I use to have issues a lot when I was using lookups till I change my
clients using @EJB or annotations.

Thanks

eve

Eve,

thank you for your kind response.

As I wrote below, the EAR was undeployed and the complete host was
restarted already.

Shall we try this a second time?

Daniel, do you think it is worth an attempt? Like to do that remotely on
the customer's host?

Regards

Markus

Hi,

Have you tried undeploying from the admin console and restarting the
server?

Dear GlassFish Community,

our customer is using GlassFish v2ur2 with our EAR without problems so
far, but recently he wanted to replace the EAR and now the server
instance seems to be broken:

"asadmin undeploy" removed the EAR from the instance, then the host was
rebootet. Subsequent "asadmin deploy" with the new EAR is not working,
it says: "The context root [...] in application [...] is already in use
by another application on this instance [server]". This is rather weird,
as there actually is *nothing* deployed currently in that instance (but
a second server is running in the same LAN with *the same* EAR, having
no problems at all).

We would be rather glad if somebody could tell us what the cause of this
message could be (again, *nothing* is currently deployed on that
machne)!

Thanks in advance

Markus
