Glassfish v3 on Windows not compiling JSP/JSF for admingui

Hi All,

I have a problem on a Windows machine (XP SP3) with GF v3 running on Java 1.6 update 17. After a fresh installation (I have tried both the Windows installer, as well as the zip distribution), the admin console starts loading, and eventually finishes with an error page containing "HTTP Status 404 - /common/index.jsf not found". If I look in the sub-directory domain1\generated\jsp\__admingui, it is empty. On a similar Windows machine that DOES work, this sub-directory contains a "loader_xxxx" sub-directory with all the admingui stuff in it. So it appears that the admingui JSP/JSF stuff is not being compiled.

There are no errors in the server log. The only difference is that the server log on the faulty machine stops at the line :-

INFO: The Admin Console application is loaded.

while on the machine that does work, the server log continues with :-

INFO: AMX ComplianceMonitor: ValidationLevel = full, UnregisterNonCompliant = false, LogInaccessibleAttributes = true
INFO: AMX config read, domain config registered as amx:pp=/,type=domain
INFO: J2EEDomain registered at amx:pp=/,type=J2EEDomain,j2eeType=J2EEDomain,name=amx
INFO: AMXStartupServiceNew: AMX ready for use, DomainRoot = amx:pp=,type=domain-root
INFO: admin console: initSessionAttributes()
INFO: Update Component count = 0

It would therefore appear that the AMX stuff does not seem to want to start. I have even completely removed Glassfish AND the JDK, and then re-installed all again, but still the same problem. Environment variables and path are identical on the two machines. (And the problem is the same with Glassfish v3.1 nightly)

Does anyone have any clues ?

Thanks,
Steve.
