To answer your and Ludovic's quesion, I have Eclipse Galileo on Mac OS X, I believe first installed as the CDT package, and later I added the WTP plugins, including the J2EE plugins.

I had read that after the first failed attempt to add the Glassfish plugin via the Eclipse Preferences, Server runtime environment. So if I understood the defect correctly, the bug will be fixed in an upcoming WTP release, and in the meantime the Glassfish plugin should be installed via the normal Eclipse plugin installation mechanism from
https://ajax.dev.java.net/eclipse/site.xml.
