I've read that document, but it seems kind of vague as to what specifically to set things to. I don't feel comfortable yet experimenting with these settings, like the thread-pool size, without more of an idea how it will affect things. Mostly what I'm getting from it is "here is some basic information about what you can tune. Try it and see how it goes."
I was hoping that people who've already banged their heads and bumped their elbows on this stuff could offer some advice that isn't in the docs.
