As for making it the other way around, let me make sure I follow you. Are you asking if new product development in the community edition gets put into the patches released by Sustaining? The answer to that is generally not without a paying contract, a filed and escalated RFE, and a business case. While the product releases is being 'sustained' we are primarily focused on security and bug fixes vs features; features are for later product releases. We do however make exceptions quite a bit as long as they are not going to affect the stability or compatibility of the release.
