Nobody ever tried to use ProgrammaticLogin in conjuntion with a standalone java application and EJBs?

SUNs documentation says:

"The programmatic login state does not necessarily persist in sessions"

My question thus is: how can I make it persist in a session? Is this possible in GF 2.1, at all?
