Folks;

I have no answer but would like to add a "+1" to that question:

To solve our storage needs, we went for NetApp a while ago (unfortunately
just a few days before the new Sun Storage Servers were announced... :( )
which is CIFS-only as, given the relatively good integration with recent
GNU/Linux distributions on the servers as well as the workstations which are
Windows altogether, we intended to save the NFS licensing fee, and mostly
"just" for dumping data this is fine... However I wonder whether, same as
asked before, running GF (Unix) off a remote share (CIFS/NFS) is something
one would want to do?

TIA and all the best,
Kristian
