I think my Apache install might have been screwed up. I don't have an apache/installation directory.
In any case, after a week of trying to get Apache to work, I finally gave up and tried installing the Sun Web Server to do the load balancing. I had it up and running perfectly in two hours. I thought that I was saving time because I already had Apache installed, but I should have used the Sun server from the beginning. Next time I'll know better.
