Debian Etch is not a supported platform for load-balancer plugin. It is only supported for RHEL 3.0/4.0 and Suse Linux. For complete list of supported platform, please refer to

However load-balancer plugin may still work if all symbols are resolved.
The LD_LIBRARY_PATH should be such that web-server 7.0 libraries are before libraries bundled with load-balancer plugin. To verify that all symbol are resolved, please set LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly. Then run command "ldd -r <complete path to libpassthrough.so>". It will tell you symbols that are not resolved.
Please provide that output.
