Thumbs up for the EclipseLink package renamer (shipped with the eclipseLink distribution)!
It does a very good job of renaming all your persistence.xml properties and Toplink Extensions annotations. Apply it to your complete entity source tree including the META-INF which contains persistence.xml.
Apart from the "SunAS9" property mentioned in my earlier post, the renamer did everything to get my app up and running with eclipseLink.
