Ok, the issue I logged was invalid.
In order to get the demo to work, you have to modify
xercesImpl-2.6.2.jar and xmlparserv2-11.1.1.JM7_4119.jar
by removing the META-INF/services directory. This prevents
JAXP from using the bundled XML parsers.
After doing this, I was able to deploy the application and
run the samples.
