I had noticed his e-mail and had been waiting for his RFE :)
I do think the thread id is noise, but I suppose it could be useful in
production with many simultaneous accesses.
So I changed my RFE a little. In my e-mail I asked for a way to change
the format.
Actually, that is not what I want and I wonder if that is best.
I would like you to improve the default format so that we (or most of
us) don't feel the need to configure the format ourselves.

Ah. Why not just use the version number? Like gf2b58 or sas1ur1 or
something, short and unique?
If you give users the control to drop this field, it will be dropped and
your customer support team will complain :)
