Thanks alot Kedar. Probably restart is what was required to clean the files. Restarting the server is definitely cleaning these files.

However we are not able to reproduce the problem even without restart. This happened only on x86 platform..same steps on Sparc box worked fine. If we encounter the problem again in near future, I will post the details here.

Following is the output of asadmin deploy command [ there was nothing logged in server.log file ]

CLI171 Command deploy failed : Deployment of application failed - Upload file failed: FAIL:uploading file failed

And when trying to deploy the same war file from admin console browser interface following messages were found in server.log file
