You can start with the example from the GlassFish Java Persistence page (https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/persistence/index.html and the example page is referenced from there: https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/persistence/persistence-example.html). This page has also a link to JSR 220 where you can download the Java Persistence part of the specification.
Java EE 5 Tutorial is another good source of a persistence example.
