thanks for the pointer, but this is not what really helps in reducing the footprint.
What the module does is to create a service client jar, i.e. a jar file that contains only the interfaces needed to access the EJBs from a client, at the same time not distributing the implementation of the EJB.
Whats so heavy in the footprint are the appserv*.jar, so a lean client would need a stripped down version of that jar, and unfortunately this is not provided by the module you mention.
