Hi Judy,
I got this issue resolved.Seems there is a known issue with Ubuntu 8.
I had to reset the environment variable LANG=en.US.UTF-8 which was
earlier set to en_IN to make this work.This solved my problem in Ubuntu
machine.
And coming to solaris,I came to know that update tool doesn't support
Solaris Update1.But my sparc machines shows 0 Available Updates :-(
