Kudos to Tom et. al for the performance work. Lately I've been working
on Monitoring issues. This requires that I start and stop, again and
again and again, V2, V3.0.1 and 3.1

Holy Smokes! Go run V2 and you'll appreciate the speed of 3.1 startup!
