Peter,

Since appserv 8.1 we have supported message layer pluggability in web
service clients (including clients embedded in servlets or ejbs).

In appserver 9.1, we have moved from the prior proprietary interfaces to
the jsr196 form of the spi; which is in the process of being standardized.
