Before you begin the Building a Simple Java Application tutorial, you will need the following:

• The common schema loaded into your Oracle database, as described in Creating and Populating the Sample Schema Tables
• A connection to the database, as described in Creating a Connection to Use with the Online Help

Note: If you completed these requirements prior to beginning another tutorial, you do not need to repeat them now.
