Studying the Target Repository |
||||
Timothy studies Bill's requirements, and concludes that he has to create a Genie crawler plug-in. Therefore, to design the plug-in, Timothy has to study the target repository. First he needs to determine how to access the repository for document contents, metadata, and access information. Then, he needs to know if there is a single instance for such a repository or hundreds of them. This affects the plug-in design, as Timothy has to decide whether the plug-in should crawl one repository at a time or all of them. Bill is fully engaged in this process, and assists Timothy by clarifying the business requirements to help Timothy make the right technical decisions.
