Oracle Secure Enterprise Search comes with a tool to startup and shutdown the search engine. The tool is a command-line utility called searchctl. This tool can startup and shutdown all components of Oracle Secure Enterprise Search, including the search midtier, the search database, and the database listener. The number of Oracle Corporation employees using Oracle Secure Enterprise Search has tripled over the past quarter. Jodie decides to proactively upgrade the memory in the Oracle Secure Enterprise Search machine, in anticipation of further growth in the user population. Before upgrading the machine, Jodie shuts down Oracle Secure Enterprise Search. After the machine is upgraded, Jodie starts up Oracle Secure Enterprise Search.
