Managing Sources

With her first search source defined, Jodie is about to take a quick break when her manager came into her office and gave her a list of additional sources to add:

• Engineers would like to locate technical reports on the World Wide Web Consortium site.
• Support analysts would like to retrieve information in the product bug database.
• Curriculum Developers would like to parse ZIP files as well as have the ability to specify domains that should not be excluded during a crawl.

After creating these sources, Jodie decides that she needs to gather requirements and feedback from departmental representatives on a regular basis so that she can proactively serve her users. With her manager's support, Jodie forms the Oracle Corporation Information Search committee, which meets on a quarterly basis.
