Efficient Mining Operations
Challenges
Many mines suffer from a lack of co-ordination across processes and operations caused by countless spreadsheets and separate software solutions for mine planning, fleet management, stockpile management and more.
- Data silos make it hard to automate cross-process co-ordination or integrated mining intelligence that could generate efficiencies.
- Benchmarking of KPIs across multiple mines, to reveal areas for potential improvement is inhibited.
- It's important to integrate disparate business processes and provide a single source of truth to make operations more effective and efficient.
Solution
Oracle's Mining Information Backbone (MIB) provides a framework to integrate niche fleet management, mine scheduling, mineral processing, laboratory assays and environmental monitoring applications.
- With an integrated mining supply chain you can: manage and track stockpiles, manage assays and ore grades, understand equipment downtime, manage equipment maintenance and record material use and replenishment and cost all transactions and stockpiles.
- MIB provides flexible building blocks to model any mining process - drilling, blasting, bogging, loading, hauling, crushing and mineral processing. It operates within a single mine or across multiple mines in multiple countries.
- MIB presents data in dashboards that can be tailored by role and responsibility.
- Managers can make timely, informed decisions by monitoring KPIs against targets including: production vs target; equipment use and efficiencies; downtime by reason codes; open jobs vs completed jobs; linear metres drilled/shift; powder factor (ROM tonnes/kg ANFO); BCM/linear metre of holes drilled; tonnes hauled per hour and many others.
- MIB can also collect data for environmental management from dust and noise meters as well as emissions data from mineral processing facilities. Energy consumption, diesel, gas and electricity usage can all be converted to equivalent carbon emissions within the solution.
- MIB provides a centralised register to manage actions for determining root causes and resolving issues. This fosters collaboration between individuals, teams and other resources across the mining company.
