One reason would be that the web server that is available does not
support any framework.
Think about a device that has a built in HTTP server but does not have
the reasources to support
a Java VM or a PHP stack etc.
I'm not sure if we have any tutorials on this, but I believe there is
enough documentation
in the source to learn how to inhibit the framework javascript support.
Any XmlHttpRequest and CGI article should give you enough information
for the communication
piece. Couple that with the widget api's, "getProps" and "setProps" and
you should be able to get started.
